The Lineage of the Legacy
I thought that maybe a little bit of a history piece was necessary for this site. After all, there have been others before it, and I consider this site in being a succession to each one. Even though the sites before did indeed fail horribly, some worse than the others, I think they also deserve to be mentioned and held in reverence as a part of Legacy Society's... legacy. Now, let's start at the very beginning.
________________________
A long while ago, there used to be a rather large site called Pandemic Studios Community Forums. In 2008, the boards started to really go down hill due to various moderation issues, and of course, the sad farewell to the site's loving administrator, Alastor. There was periods of inactivity (albeit not as bad as you would think), and some members started to think: "Maybe it would be a good idea to make some splinter-sites." One member made the ever notorious, Pandemica forum boards.
Pandemica would come to be known as a "vets only" admission site. IE, only the older members that had been from Pandy back in 06 and 07 would be allowed onto that forum. However, due to newer members litigation and formal complains to the boards administrators, that original ban was lifted, and anyone was allowed in. Soon enough, Pandemica would be notorious for several issues, such as constant flaming, trolling, and copious amounts of spam.
Meanwhile, on Pandemic [by older members called Pandy], a new forum admin was chosen from the ranks. His name, was Sledgehammer70. He seemed like any other admin, present but not... indifferent toward the general populace. However, we can all admit that he kept to his word and kept issues down as well as provided up-to-date info on all upcoming Pandemic games. But, unfortunately, the forum was already deep into a schism. Members were split, many perma-banned for various forum crimes. Every section of the community forums suffered deeply, most notably the forum games. And, what irked many the most, was the the staff was not helping much in the situation.
Before much of that strife that would happen, I and a close forum friend, DJA747 (IE DJ), decided to take action for ourselves and create our own boards on November 19th, 2008, naming it EAKingdoms. It was a simple board, hosted by Invisionfree. For the first month or two, the board was busy, and ran relatively smoothly. It didn't look as pretty as here at LS, but it was a home away from home, if you know what I mean. Members found there, which we haven't seen in a long time, were the mod: Captain Araujo, and members: Spotty, xxdombomxx, Jonny, and Mercs22. All of the members on the original EAK, came directly from Pandy. After the "honeymoon phase" of the forums life, it soon started to slow, and eventually fall almost completely inactive. After it did, there were two real choices for the EAKers: Go back to the dying Pandy, or go to TWT.
I had always been a member at TWT (first known as Conquest Mania), and was later voted on as a moderator there, which I continue even to today. TWT was definitely what I would call a semi-lively site. It would be active for long periods of time, but then due to whatever circumstance, inactivity would take hold of the site. However, I can safely say, that TWT is one of the few really safe, spam-free, and flame-free places that we could go to. The members there were from Pandy as well, however more or less from only a faction: The LOTR Conquest members, which I could be considered. After all, that is what I initially joined Pandy for.
When ThElderGod finally was the one to suggest to DJ and myself in making our own anime / games oriented forum, I was somewhat shocked, as EAK only fell soon before. With TEG's skill in photoshop, and DJ's and my own skill in running a forum, we ended up creating what would soon be called SoulGamesSociety or SGS for short.
For the first time, I and the other two admins would journey down the road for Darkbb forums. SGS was created on February 15th, 2009 and was open to anyone. Most of our members remained the loyal EAKers, as well as our great friends from the still dwindling Pandy. Thrasher9294, Shadow Of The East, and Crash would be made the loyal mods of SGS in the months to come for the sites activity. During it's debut, the chatbox was probably the most active area on the boards, drawing in such notorious members like: Kmag, Ducky, SovietSoldier, Canterbury, and the jack of clubs. The site would also manage to grab members from Pandy who initially never joined EAK such as Theliah and Nimrodel.
The downfall of SGS occured due to very bad relations between Pandemica and ourselves. After certain members flamed each other, and forum-spied between boards recalling all of the things said [that probably should have remained private], Pandemica and SGS could be said to have gone into a very short "war". It resulted in some bad administration choices by SGS, a posted pornographic picture, and much spam. The site, was at that moment, on its last legs. Soon, possibly a month after the SGS-Pandemica War, SGS fell out of favor with bad reputation, and proverbial inactivity. Our members were again looking for a new forum to call home.
This is about the time that Pandy fell under and was almost dead, and TEG came to me with an interesting proposition. He messaged me on Pandy one day, asking whether I and DJ wanted some really high class staffer jobs on a site called Revora. Of course, being me, I joined. Immediately, I found myself literally lost in a bog of the disorganized. More than half of what was on Revora, I didn't understand. It was too large of a site to staff, and I literally only was present there for two days before I formally quit alongside DJ.
After my resignation from such a short lived term of power, TEG came back to me, telling me to download Windows Live messenger.. IE MSN. I did, albeit cautiously as I had had issues with MSN earlier in my life. However, it would prove in being the best decision I could have made. There, I met such people as Nowe, Redcoat, and Vithar (he had a different name then). After meeting them, I was pressed with an idea of a site-collaboration from Nowe and TEG. I couldn't refuse. At that time, we had the second EAK, hosted again by myself, DJ, and TEG.
EAK2, as it would later be dubbed, was altogether successful, but short lived. It was formed on June 24th,2009 and took on another Darkbb guise, however contracted the same mechanical disease as SGS... the Admin Root-Bug. This was the second factor that killed off SGS, and it soon killed off EAK2. While there, TEG, as the founder of the boards, shifted IP's, as he created both forums using a school computer, and not his own PC. Any moderation work that he needed to do, that would essentially prove in being the lifeline to the forums, had to be under HIS IP.. not the schools. Unfortunately, that line was severed as soon as we found the problem. From that point on, other issues arose, such as certain members acting out against staff, and general disobedience. EAG was formed soon after finding the root bug, secretly and by TEG and myself.
By this time, I and the Role Playing Games Frontier, IE RPGF, admins became much less of business affiliates, and more as friends. On the experimental site, that would hence be called EAGalaxies (EAG), TEG and I made the choice in allowing Redcoat and Nowe to be site admins. The new site was created on August 17th, 2009 using InvisionFree again. Thrasher and Shadow remained as moderators as well. The staff was... rather large, I will admit. I suppose that caused the problems that brought the last site to its knees. What killed EAG, was regular inactivity after the "honeymoon phase", and certain members acting out again. After the site fell completely dead, the community split or fell out of our relative existence.
At the moment that EAG died off, I decided to take action secretly and by myself, creating my own forum. I would be the founder, as I knew I would not use multiple IP's, thus ridding the site of the Admin Root-bug. Obviously, I used Darkbb, being the most familiar with the host. I called upon Redcoat for aid in this creation, and thus came to life, Legacy Society. After its birth, I tried to recruit "new blood" before contacting the older members... even though I deemed this as somewhat of a stab to the back to some. Even with my efforts, they found their way here to LS. With this new found success, LS has since affiliated with 5 other forum sites, gained more members than any of the past sites, and has been consistently active since it's creation. LS was created on September 28th, 2009.... meaning that we have been active for well over a year.
All I would like to say, with this last bit of the blog, is that it is thanks to all her members, that LS is a successful and still-growing site. You are the life that is breathed into this forum, so please, do keep breathing!
I hope you enjoyed this bit of history everyone,
~Bleach

I was too.
Not to mention Bleach forgot to mention the whole idea behind the very first EAK.
Which at this moment I am going to let die because pride is almost never a good thing in excess.

XD
In all fairness DJ, I wasn't focusing on EAK's history, but how it aided in LS's.

Darkbb and me never got along; it was unfortunate. Especially when SoulGamer Society collapsed. The site had a lot of potential, after I think my own reputation took a hit, because of the things between me and Soviet Soldier is what killed EAK2. Which again was unfortunate, along with the root admin bug on forumotion. I am however impressed with LS even though I'm not apart of it entirely, or affiliated with it, but me and Bleach going our separate was best for both of us. But, its nice that we're still friends through it all. This is indeed a rich history for one site, don't you think

=D TEG, this is OUR legacy, everyone's Legacy. A place of past memories, and making new!
And about affiliation, it is a definite possibility. We should talk about that, btw.

LOL. I want to hear more about this inter-forum espionage campaign and war.
With detail please. I need to be entertained by how children spend their time on the internet.

Well you know what they say: Fifth times the charm.
What? They don't? Oh, nevermind then.
Those were some great times on SGS + TWT. Pandemic not so much, since I realise what an incessantly annoying n00b I was back then. It's a shame we lost contact to most of those members, but things come and go I guess.

Indeed. There were a host of good members on Pandy back then, and then a gigantic mob of annoying asshats...

Yeah, a good bit of the members still go on GT.
I tried not to be a noob, but in a sense, I was though.

Errr, what essentially happened, is that members of Pandemica and SGS were both getting onto the sites anonymously to spy and look for ammo to use against each other.. It was effectively going to start into a bi-forum flame war or spam holocaust. XD
Luckily.. (or unluckily), one site died before any such events could transpire... ahahaha -__-;

So.........who were the so called spies of SGS?
Wed Aug 11, 2010 11:57 am
I am thinking it was probably Boom Boom, CCCP, and Bangaro. I am not entirely sure who spied for the other end, but Kumquatcheese was probably one, as he was the forum spammer we had contact with. XD
