Uhhh, as someone who is being brought up as a traditional-college-degree-state-certified teacher, I've been taught to very much dislike that program.

Love, I'm going to college now, and my school offers dual certification in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Certification in another state is simply a matter of taking that state's test. My mom was certified in PA, when we moved to SC she took the test, was re-certified, and began teaching. When we moved back to PA she did not get certified again, and therefore cannot teach anymore. Is that the only reason why you don't like the program?

The reason why I don't like the program is that most people who sign on to the program are not pursing in a career in education. It can very much be a 2+ year course for someone to build up their resume/experience before they pursue their actual careers. It kind of undermines people who teach as their profession.

They also are paid less than teachers who majored specifically in the teaching of (subject). I am personally considering not getting my masters degree because I would become overqualified and the school can easily hire someone else for less money to do the same job. In an administrative position, it saves the school money and can leave real teachers without a job.

The Teach for America Program is just one of many options that the person can consider with their degree. They can get hired at a company, they can do research for a university, or they can consider teaching with what they already know through TfA. Someone who has majored in teaching does not have the same options. They can either land a job, become a substitute, or work at Starbucks.

The program is noble in its intentions but in the big picture it doesn't really mesh well with traditional teachers.

I guess I find the program works well for what I currently want to do. I want to be able to live away from my parents, and I want to make a difference in the lives of children. I intend on going through the education program here, as well as my origional English Major. I want to teach little kids because I feel they are the most easily taught/get the most out of enthustiastic teachers. The college I go to has a 3-2 program. Any way I go, I will be going to Grad School, that's something that my mom has been pushing since I got into middle school.

Just Cause 2 is awesome and I can't leave to go to school today. School was not closed because of snow and ice. I think they didn't because we already have to make up 5 snow days anyway. Either way, if we have to make up any more full days I'm exempt thanks to Senior Status. Oh well, as of now I can't leave to go to school and all buses are stopped in their tracks.

WOOOO, Friday and Monday I have off!! I am guessing because of President's Day. ¬_¬

Thanks to the 5 day snowpocalypse in my town, I have to make up Presidents day and have like 15 minutes added on to each class after Spring Break.

I'm planning my gardens I bought this really cool tool that you make newspaper strips into seedling pots:) I want to plant Catnip (I have five cats, planting it is simply economical), mini tangerine tree, herbs, tomatoes, carrots, celery, onions, garlic, cucumbers, peas, green beans, and lima beans. I haven't a clue what flowers I'll plant, but I'll plant some of those as well:)
