The Tempest - Overview Empty The Tempest - Overview

Thu Jan 28, 2010 2:07 pm
The Tempest is our crews ship (at least in the beginning). It is our life source out at sea. Food is made there and stored, treasures and plunder is kept within its hold. The crew's quarters and other important rooms are always there. We fight from on the deck, we spot enemies from the crows nest, we dock at ports with the plank.

For any pirate, the ship is the most important thing to have aside from the crew. Without a ship, you are considered nothing more than common bandits, instead of the title of "Warrior of the Sea". The ship needs upkeep. After long journeys, destructive storms, or long battles, the ship will get banged up. Therefore, engineers / shipwrights will be needed.

Fixing the ship is most time top priority, unless of course you are being chased across the sea by Marines. Supplies to fix the ship can be found in any port-town.

The Tempest itself is the pride and joy of Captain Hyouga. She is a rather large ship compared to others, although quite small when compared to larger pirate crews. Ships always change because of three factors:

- They are destroyed through war or storm

- They are too small for a growing crew

-They are stolen or taken into custody by other Pirates of Marines

Therefore, because of these circumstances, newer and larger ships will be purchased either through the Captains own money, or from combining the entire crew's funds.

And as a side note, the Navigator [ME] controls the direction of the ship. The Crew, no matter what job you have, will be trained in how to sail, as it is the most important thing. There must be someone rigging the lines, directing the masts, and controlling the helm at ALL TIMES. If a ship is blown off course, who knows where you'll end up.

The most important thing to understand however, is respect and communication. If the Captain of the ship gives an order, especially during a battle or storm, the crew needs to listen as it is usually a matter of life or death. Failure to follow orders can result in many different issues, ranging from the minor offense, to the death of the entire crew and ship.
