An LS Blog?

Well, I would like to just bring this topic up, as I have been meaning to for a while. There is, and always has been and option for me to create a blog, which would be connected to the LS site, just as our portal is. Do you guys think we should have one? Personally, I think it could be an interesting experiment for the site, as it has been pretty successful for quite a long while now.

If we had a blog, a small group of maybe two or three individuals including the admins and mods might be able to maintain the blog. We could post news, either interesting tid bits heard offline that you would like to share, or general news for the site itself. We could also include summaries of the hosted games and major discussions and of course have links to those places from there.

Personally, I find it to be a very good way to possibly get some more viewers and such. It could be a fun thing to have, and I don't think it would do any harm to the site itself... so, essentially, if it is successful we can keep it up, if it falls dead, we just get rid of it. What do you say guys?

I am not sure Duckling, it is actually a function for the site itself, so it would most likely be none of the above, but rather hosted directly by LS.

Then how will the blog attract new members?

It could probably be connected to all other Darkbb sites out there... not sure how it will work, nor if I am right about it being a privately owned blog system. We will find out I suppose.

I think this would be a good idea, probably, as long as we keep updating it and such.

I highly dislike this idea.

Any sort of communication that a blog provides is a service that our forums already provide. Site updates are posted in the Core, and interesting tidbits should be posted to the Hall (or topic-specific forums as appropriate) where they can spark easier discussion and actually grow a community. A blog post is nothing more than a communication, something our forums are already good for. Aside from novelty, my question is why we would ever do this.

However...

Myself and Bleach have come to a deal. If this blog succeeds, then I'm obviously a conservative git and he can tell my Anglophile bigmouth to shove it. If it fails, then I get to go after Bleach's politics for an entire very satisfying day.

I would enjoy being a writer for it, if that would be alright. I've never blogged before, but I could at least give it a try.

I very much doubt that I'd ever personally contribute to it, and I'm not entirely sure what we could actually use it for that isn't already been done by another means. It may or may not work; I do not know. However, that being said, it's an idea, is something new, and isn't all that hard to do, so I reckon it's worth giving it shot. If it fails, you've wasted a small amount of time and effort trying something new, and if it succeeds, then it'll be a boon for Legacy Society.

I remain indifferent in my opinion towards keeping it for the long haul, but I'm all for giving it a shot.
