New Tempera: The Imperial City

Geography: New Tempera lies in the very center of the old Empire. It is indeed an island technically, connected to most of the Feudal States via long bridges to each shore. The bridges are guarded heavily now, by Imperial Troops, due to the seceding of the States from the Empire. The land is fertile, and quite hilly. In the south-center of the island, the gigantic Imperial City stands. Heavily walled with bastions of near unbreakable stone from deep under the earth. All around the Imperial City, lies the cities of Polia (named after the Emperors), Ryerdalo, and Kalos. There are three bridges that branch off from the island, those connecting to Anumias, New Capua, and the Netherland Regions.

Architecture: The architecture of New Tempera is quite unique in that is it more of a blend of many cultures into one. The buildings can be of many shapes and sizes, as there are very tall buildings, those being important, and smaller buildings. Many are white or a grayish color, with either green, orange, or brown roofs, made from tiles of slate or a mixture of different things. The roofs seem to curve and slant, and the tiles upon the roof are made in such a way as to collect water. The white walls keep the homes and buildings relatively cold during the summer, and warm in the winter. Glass and wood is also used in the homes. Large arches, bastions, steeples, and columns are major aesthetic designs made to very important buildings. In the Imperial City, the roads are cobbled stone or marble for the richer districts.


Past History: New Tempera was founded and built under the guidance of the first Temperian Emperor, Polius I. He, along with the help of many thousands, had created one of the greatest cities in the land, while also being the safest. Throughout the ages, many have tried to infiltrate or attack the city, but never were able to get in. The city is guarded by hundreds of thousands of skilled warriors, and the hundred foot thick walls that surround the city. During the Universal Wars, around RFA 230, the city was besieged by many thousands of Orcs. After a toll of over twenty thousands casualties, the Orcs retreated, leaving the city rather untouched. This was only one of many invasions that were stricken upon the Imperial City.

Currently, the city is in ruin. Its former glory had been stamped out because of the assassination of Polius IV, and the disappearance of the Oracles Mandate. The walls seem to be crumbling, and the amount of people who wish to keep up the maintenance dwindling. The heart of the Empire had been ripped from its chest, therefore a new heart would have to be put back in to revive the lost city.
