Strengthening the Sea Front (ATTN: BLEACH) Empty Strengthening the Sea Front (ATTN: BLEACH)

Sat Sep 10, 2011 10:58 am
[To Ieyasu Torunaga - 家康-徹ナガ Shogun of Kyokai,
From the desk of Drochasal VII.]

I hope this letter finds it’s way across the sea and onto your desk. I would like to ask you if you would be interested in a trade. I don’t know if you have heard anything about my flintlock rifles, but my Chief Scientist developed one that fires a remarkable distance, called the Ahartas. This literally translates to “Improvement” in Dachan. I have fired them myself and I must say they handle very well. But you must be wondering what I want in return.

Word has reached my ears that you have a navy as powerful, if not more powerful than that of Erynnen. Apparently you have many, many ships. I, Shogun Torunaga, am on the other side of the spectrum. I have many of my latest flintlock rifles. I assume a man of your intelligence will understand the proposition I am putting forward.

I would like an exchange of your ships for my rifles. My soldiers are second to none, but my fleet could do with a little improvement, especially with a war on Erynnen looming.
I hope you accept this generous offer.

Merushi,
Drochasal VII

Strengthening the Sea Front (ATTN: BLEACH) Empty Re: Strengthening the Sea Front (ATTN: BLEACH)

Sent per will of Ieyasu Torunaga, Shogun of Kyokai
To be received by Lord Drochasal VII
Dated: January 10th, 1572

--------------

Dear Drochasal VII,

I am pleased to find that the nation of Curaidach is finally spreading its wings - perhaps a bit too quickly, but who am I to talk? As far as trade goes, our own rifles and muskets and top-tiered in their own right, however a wise man once said: "A good armory, is a full armory". In other words, I shall accept the proposal.

With our own reciprocation for this matter, I will indeed aid Curaidach in the pursuits of procuring a better navy - however our plans for shipbuilding in the Kyokan style, shall remain just that: Kyokan. Therefore, the put-out of ships to Curaidach will be limited, but in the end, you will have amassed a good amount of great ships, yes?

As far as the logistics of this transaction, it would be best if you were to contact the Kyokan Regent of Commerce, Jun Maebara.

With kindest regards,

Ieyasu Torunaga - 家康-徹ナガ
Shogun of Kyokai

Sent by the command of Lord Drochasal VII, GDC
To be received by Jun Maebara, Kyokan Regent of Commerce.
Dated: February 1st, 1572

Dear Jun Maebara,
I have heard from the Shogun of Kyokai that you are the authority on trade traffic in and out of Kyokai. I would like to know if the Shogun mentioned at all the deal that we were planning. I was going to send over some of my Aharta rifles, which are renowned for their remarkable range and deadly accuracy for some, at the very least designs, of your fine ships.

I understand you have the stongest fleet on the seas, matched by none. You may have heard that my soldiers are of a similar caliber, and I would very much like to own a powerfull fleet to match. I am currently being attacked by the Iron Empire (I am sure you know of them and their... Shady dealings.) and wish to bring the fight to them. and get them away from my border forts, as I suspect they are allied with Theron, the known pirate.

I hope this letter finds you and that you agree to this generous offer.

Regards,
Drochasal VII

OOC: For Serasse's sake. First of all, I'm sick of everyone and their mother claiming to have a navy of equal caliber to Erynnen. Erynnen's navy is the best one on the seas. Period. Long-lived, expert shipbuilders who have trained their entire lives for naval combat ought to be better than whatever you can conjure up, but apparently you think otherwise. Secondly, Theron's meeting with the Ironhull representatives was COMPLETELY SECRET IN CHARACTER. Nobody came ANYWHERE near them. Yet your characters have suspicions of alliance? Hell. No.

If this sort of shit continues, there's no point in me continuing.

Lyon, please settle down. I can understand your grief over people continuing to disregard SIC posts - that'd piss me off too, especially if I warned people over and over that everything discussed was indeed a secret between two parties. Therefore, Joe, you're in the wrong - Lyon's dealings with Armos should most definitely be only between them.

In accordance with your claims of being the only top-tier naval power in the world, I'd like to quote Redcoat from a passage that he wrote within the OOC chat on EC. You may find this there for proof.

"Naval power:
-Kyokai (Fantastic navy of large size)
-Isles (Fantastic navy of small size)
-Solaris (Lots of ships)
-Republic (Crappy ships with good number; this is changing)
-Tyskland (Nothing to report)
-Alba (Nothing to report)
-Holy Empire (Decrepit)"

Erynnen has an equal, and that would indeed by Kyokai. Perhaps we haven't been around for as long as the Erynnen Elves, but we have been around for a damn long time, and have always been a sea-faring nation. We know our way around a ship, and the oceans that surround us. In addition, the Erynnen Isles are just that - an organization of peoples (mostly elves I'd assume) with a prime focus on sea-way trading, export, and warfare to a degree - but there is the case in point. You're not technically a nation, Kyokai is a full nation and thus has a Navy fit for the size of the nation - funded by a government and for a professionally trained military.

I should mention that Red's list needs to be updated something thorough.

I'd explicitly stated early on in the game that the Holy Empire's navy was old, decrepit, and falling apart, hence why it was on the bottom. However, since the time that list was written, the Holy Empire had forged a naval alliance with Erynnen, thus rapidly increasing the naval capacities of both nations, then, Holy Empire had it's own secret building projects that I posted about, then we had the war with Solaris and etc. In other words, Holy Empire is probably a bit higher on the list by this stage, I'm thinking, probably equal to or just below the Republic nowadays. On the same token, because Solaris was defeated in battle, it's naval capacity should be somewhat reduced nowadays from what it originally was.

I have -some- doubts as to whether Kyokai should be on the top of the list or not (as opposed to Erynnen being on the top), but I haven't had the chance to read up on everything to those specific ends due to holidays and work and etc, so I can't comment on that one at the moment.

I'm just reading from your above post and haven't checked the original thread posted by Red since I saw it before leaving for my holidays, so I don't know if any of his other lists need updating, but if there's been no changes since the original lists were made, I'd suggest that they probably do need updating.

Anyhow, mostly unrelated.

People need to start reading SICs. It pisses me off too when they don't. Has happened in nearly every natpol I've played to some extent, and it gets tedious.

Strengthening the Sea Front (ATTN: BLEACH) Empty Re: Strengthening the Sea Front (ATTN: BLEACH)

Okay...

I may have worded my letter wrong. When I said they were known for 'Shady dealings', that was due to people telling me before I started really using Curaidach that Ironhull is itself a shady sort country.

I know of theron (or at least suspect theron) being allied with Armos simply because when I brought theron up in the post 'A Warning' to armos, (mentioning how I was building up my borders to repell a further attack from him) he completely disregarded this and a few days later he declared war on me. Now as a world leader, wouldn't you find this the slightest bit strange? The fact that despite agreeing to help fight off pirates, Wilhelm would like us to believe he has chosen to take on both the Curaidach and Capuan fleets, presumably while still fighting VERY well funded pirates?

This is the guy who has a fleet that has inferior design, and that has been asking around for lumber for ages, and from all sorts of countries. Dunno bout you guys but I find all this a little difficult to understand. Unless Wilhelm is insane, there is no WAY that he would declare war on two nations at once, and supposedly fight off well funded pirates at the helm of the greatest navy in the world without an appropriate Navy himself to combat us.

Drochasal has been wary of Ironhull, since it is right next to them, and also the fact that Ironhull has been threatening Curaidach to lower their defenses for the past month.

@ Oberon: As I mentioned above, thats not the impression I have from talking on MSN with other players, so I'm sorry if I misinterpreted that somehow

Last time I'm going to argue about MY nation, because frankly it's getting annoying being the butt of every argument. Ironhull has NOT declared war on Capua, nothing has been openly declared, only planned. Once again i reiterate with Maik, People need to start reading SICs. It pisses me off when they don't.

Also, things brought up in an MSN conversation doesn't automatically become fact in an RP. Yeah, sure you learn more about a nation, but you dont just bring it up without a post bringing it to life in the RP itself.

Anyway, I'm sick of being the topic of EVERY argument in this RP. From now on, if you have a problem with Ironhull, TELL IT TO ME or dont bring it up at all.

OK, listen - you three, go and discuss this out of the thread, it's starting to get ridiculous. MSN chat it, PM it, I don't care. As long as some decision as to who's doing what, and how you three can amend it, then everything will work out.

Get it done. I don't want this argument spamming up this thread, or others.
