History The Vurstarians were possibly the fourth race to start to inhabit Ryerdae. They started off with a very small population and many different clans. Unlike humans, the Vurstarians were detached from the other races, and would rarely venture away from their land. Most humans are afraid to bother them, as they are believed to be quick to anger, and quite hostile toward foreigners. In the starting of the first age (aprox. RFA 102), the Vurstarians went through a rough civil war, which encompassed every tribe of Vurstarians, for two long years. The war tolled many hundreds of deaths for each clan, and went on for at least three years. By the end, a single Vurstarian, named S'krivva, took forced control over all of the clans, effectively creating a unified nation. S'krivva named the nation Vurstaria, after their own species, and promoted solitude for their kin.
This would have a sound affect on the policies and laws of the Vurstarians, as they rarely get involved with land disputes and foreign politics. But, for the peace that the instilled upon themselves and their own kin, the political world was still in strife. Most of the Vurstarians dislike humans with a passion, and eleven kind even more so. And yet, they never attacked any of the Feudal States, as they knew that any battle would end up as a stalemate. If they fought on open land, which would be seen as a weakness, they would lose. If they fought in the sea, above or underwater, it would be an ultimate victory. This stalemate is the only reason why the Vurstarians become a Imperial Feudal State and agreed to pay New Temperian taxes.
Once the Oracles Mandate disappeared, the Vurstarians took the liberty of seceding with the rest of the States from the Empire. They knew that because of the last war, all of the other States would be too weak to attack them, and yet because of their isolation, they were to weak to attack the others. It was yet again another stalemate.
Appearance Lizard-like in appearance, the Vurstarians are much different looking from the humans or elves. They have the keen abilities to see in the dark, and breath underwater. Their skin is always a duller color, much like the Orcish peoples, but they have the skin of scales. Their eyes are normally gold colored, or red.
Personality With their own kind, the Vurstarians are as boisterous and merry as many Elves would be. As long as they are not bothered by the outside world, they are relaxed and could care less about war. They do however, put up a very strong defense. When a foreigner ventures into their land, they are quite easy to have a bad temper, and are leery to communicate with them. Most cities and civilizations are built underwater for this reason.
Beliefs All Vurstarians worship one god, and one god only. P'rossa, the God of the Ocean. Other non-religious beliefs consist of solitude and sparing no trust for those of another race.
Culture Most Vurstarians are well versed in philosophy and the history, comparable to the Ayleids themselves. Therefore, Vurstarian history is quite important to know. Public speaking is a value that most Vurstarians hold dear, as it allows them to speak their mind on any issue. The warrior culture is a bit different than in other races, in that Vurstarians are the best known example of defenders and naval battlers. All soldiers are taught that instead of retreating on land, bring the war to the sea, for there they will meet their doom. Because of this brainwashing, almost all Vurstarians are very proud and cocky when it comes to sea warfare.
Relationship with other races Their relationship with all of the races has been strained since the very day that they set foot in Ryerdae. Isolationism is the relationship that they currently hold, and will continue to hold, unless things were to change.
