The Anumians
Singular: Anumian
Plural: Anumians
Pronunciation: Ah - Noo - Mee - Ehn
Life span: 250-500 years
Location: North East
Strengths: Combat, lumber work, blacksmithing
Weaknesses: Fire
History Anumias is the best known example in all of Ryerdae, of a Knight culture. They are the third of the races to first inhabit the land, after the Ayleids and New Temperians. They, throughout history, have been hailed as the best and most gifted horse warriors that the land had ever seen. Of all the races, they have the largest cavalry, and the least amount of infantry. Through the first age, they were known to be the closest allies that the New Temperians had, and could in some cases still be considered so into the present. They were originally very loyal to the Empire, and worked closely with the Imperials.
They are the only race to take control of Dark Ore (aside from New Tempera), a naturally enchanted mineral deep in the earth. Using this to create armor and weapons, the Anumians were held in highest regard as to trade and merchandise. Their wood crafts and architecture also became something of a legend due to its great make, and its endurance. Their metal work is second to none, that being New Temperians (who took their knowledge from the Ayleids).
During the many wars that occurred throughout the first age, Anumias always backed up the Imperials, and would die trying to protect the throne. In the present, the relations between the two former allies has become strained, and the bonds of friendship have started to dwindle away.
Appearance Anumians are generally tall, around 5'7'' +, tanned skin. Many have blond hair, and some have darker colors. They seem to grow their hair longer than others, and also tend to prefer men with facial hair.
Personality Most Anumians are quite trusting of foreigners, unlike other nations. They welcome most with open arms, and encourage a diverse society. However, local laws seem to offset such a genuine thing, as they do not let anyone but pure Anumian-blooded civilians into their military, or into high government offices. In battle, the Anumians have proven time and time again to have wills or steel, and shrewdness when making tactical decisions.
Beliefs Anumains have no official gods, so therefore, religion is not very important. Society believes that their should be a class and rank system, however anyone can raise himself to the next level. Hard work = reward.
Culture Food is very important to Anumians, therefore, their cooking and cuisine is world famous throughout the land. Tourism is popular in major cities in Anumias. All soldiers become Knights, so a warrior culture is very prevalent in Anumias. Most people hold their protectors and defenders in very high regard, traitors are always banished from Anumias, or killed on the spot in public.
Relationship with other races Anumias tends to have very tight relationships with all of the other races (aside from the Netherland Regions). Most recently, the relationship between Anumians and New Temperians has become somewhat difficult due to political policy, and constant war.
