History Guylos, the only other dwarven race aside from New Capua, was the last of the peoples to immigrate into Ryerdae. They, a hardy folk, are much different than normal dwarfs in that they are sea-faring (comparable to the Nordic races). Upon taking up their own position in the south- eastern island, later called Guylos, they would live in relative peace from the other races. They soon became on of the best known naval races, being the best of the boat crafters and fishermen all throughout Ryerdae.

Their peace would last almost four hundred years. It was only until The First Temperian Crusade, that even their far off island, would be thrown into chaos. Due to the bad foreign relations between Guylos and Anumias toward the New Temperian Empire, war broke out between the three nations, with both Anumias and Guylos allying against the Imperials. The war would last five years... five years of pure hell. This is especially so for the Guylosians, who were victim to the Imperials fire storms that they unleashed upon their major towns and cities. One fifth of all of Guylos was literally burned to the ground.

Still licking the wounds from the First Crusade, Guylos yet again joined another coalition... this time with Tamrodiil and the Capuan Dwarfs in the Second Temperian Crusade. War broke out then because of Imperial naval barricades, which blocked vital trade routes between the three co-allied nations. After seven more years of rough battle, the coalition finally tasted victory, thus gaining their trade routes and land back that they had previously lost.

Seven years later, in RFA 404, the Last Temperian Crusade began. This time, war was started surprisingly by the Imperials themselves, under the leadership of Polius II. Tamrodiil and Guylos, now strong allies, joined back together to combat their foe, who starting to invade and systematically siege their territories. At first, the strong alliance seemed to push the Imperials back from whence they came. Gaining such momentum, the leader of Guylos at the time, Hrothgar, had the alliance army push into Imperial lands, burning down villages for retribution from the Second Crusade. The alliance made it all the way to the fated Imperial City, but failed miserably and in shame, finding only titanic numbers of elite Imperial Troops, and the high impenetrable walls of a great city. The army failed, and over half of the soldiers died at the last battle. The Imperials initially took back all of the lands after the alliance surrendered, however returned them upon the dawn of the Golden Age.

Since the three Crusades, all of which Guylos participated in as a major spearhead, they have not gone against the Empire again. Although the two last Orc Wars did indeed even come to their own land, it was not in the numbers that the other nations received. Once the Great Assimilation took place, the Guylosians found it hard to forgive the Imperials for what they did during Polius II's reign, although they healed a bit under the benevolent rule of Polius IV.

Since the disappearance of the Oracles Mandate, Guylos has become only allied to Tamrodiil, due to their proud history during the Crusades. They have cut all ties with the Imperials, and currently do not wish to restore them.



Appearance As the Guylosians themselves are dwarfs, they are quite short, the tallest being a little over four feet. Many have beards, although some have been known to shave them off. They are usually considered stout, and muscular, and rough skinned. Most have darker colored hair, although some have been known to carry a recessive gene for blond hair.



Personality Most Guylosians are considered loud mouthed, rowdy, and drunk most of the time, unless they are in war. All of them enjoy partying all the time, and it could be for the most menial of reasons. To be honest, most do not care what foreigners think, while also encouraging them to join in on the festivities [possibly because they are drunk]. In war, they are great tacticians, utilizing anything that they can, and surprises to confuse their enemy. In family, they are much quieter, and enjoy a peaceful life.



Beliefs The Guylosian dwarfs worship the Dwarven God of War, Jaeger, as well as the God of Fire, Sumgrae. Aside from religion, the Dwarfs of Guylos believe in equality, liberty, and absolute loyalty to their nation.



Culture The Guylosians are famous for their great alcohol, which tends to find its way all throughout Ryerdae. Food is many times meat dishes, which many dwarfs swear they cannot live without. There are NO vegetarians, and most dwarfs will refuse to accommodate those odd ones who are. Every town in Guylos hosts a large statue of their own patron god whether it be Jaeger or Sumgrae, in the very center. Most towns in Guylos tend to compete with each other to see who has the best of the beers and whiskeys. This comes to be known as the annual (every year), Alcohol Competition [the dwarfs are not very good with creative names either].



Relationship with other races Guylos is on the best of terms with Tamrodiil, and is somewhat allied to Anumias, although only in terms of international trade. The relationship between the Imperials is almost non-existent, as they seem to hate each other with a passion. Vurstaria and New Capua seem to hold the same kind of bond with them as Anumias does. The Guylosians however, will almost never refuse to welcome a foreigner into their cities, as long as they are not Imperials.
