Character Name: Adriana
Gender: Female
Race: Tamrodiilian Elf
Age: 427
Occupation: Ex-Warden of the Western border, Ex-High Priestess of the goddess Amrial, now Mistress of the Lost Guard
Home Location: A small temple south of Ryerdalo
History / Background: The following are excerpts from the Lost Tome, a book containing all information concerning the Lost Guard and it's members.
Personal history of Adriana, first Mistress of the Lost Guard:
Adriana never knew her father, she born and raised in a temple to the Elven goddess of the night, Amrial by her mother who was a priestess there. When she was fifty she was taken to study in the Imperial City, there she learned about the history of Ryerdae, Adriana showed much interest in the Alyeids but was unable to find much information on them. Her mother died when Adriana was one hundred and thirty four, upon her death Adriana traveled to the temple and took her mothers place as a priestess to Amrial, after fifty years of serving Amrial Adriana was summoned to speak with the high priestess. After ascending the stairs to the tower Adriana spoke with the high priestess, no one knows what was said but three days later the high priestess died and Adriana took her place. After another seventy some years of serving as the High Priestess Adriana resigned from her position after being given a vision from Amrial, she returned to the Imperial City and spoke with the wizards at the university, after three months of staying there she sent away for reasons unknown to the public and headed to Tamrodiil, on her way she met a Dwarf inventor and the two became friends. Adriana and Thorgest (the Dwarf) arrived Ellismare and split paths, Thorgest went to see a master bowsmith and Adriana headed to the palace. Upon entering she was immediately given a private audience with the King, they spent many hours talking and as Adriana left the King told her that he had an important role for her. When she finally left the palace night had fallen but the Elves did not stop, as she wove her way through the many parties in the streets she finally reached the bowsmiths workshop, there a servant showed her to her quarters and then left, a meal had already been laid out and she ate quickly and then fell asleep, that night she had another vision. In her vision she saw much darkness, she stood atop a tower in what looked like the Imperial City but she could not tell due to the flames everywhere, fires burned from every building and people screamed for their loved ones and all she could do was laugh, then all at once with a blinding flash a warrior appeared bearing a bow unlike any she had ever seen, the warrior raised the bow and notched two arrows then all went dark as Adriana awoke. After dressing she went downstairs and found Thorgest and the bowsmith standing over a bow of unique design, putting together the Elven skill and Dwarven engineering they had made a very powerful weapon, they took it out to the courtyard and set up a target, then Thorgest handed Adriana the bow and told her to test it, as she received the bow the image of the warrior flashed before her eyes once more, ignoring this she readied an arrow. By night fall not one arrow had missed the center, Thorgest then spoke to her alone, he told Adriana he was glad they had met on the road or else this day may not have come to pass, then he gave her the bow and left Tamrodiil never to be seen again, whether the bowsmith had the knowledge to make another one of these master bows is unknown to all. Returning to the palace again the next day Adriana spoke with the King and was proclaimed the Warden of the Western border. Her new position had her dealing with all that went on at the western border of Tamrodiil, she watched all that went on and studied even more, as time went by Adriana grew tired of her position, after one hundred years in service to her King she left Tamrodiil and traveled to Anumias to study more, it could be said that she was a learned person but still she studied the cultures of Ryerdae. After spending a couple years in Anumias she traveled to Vurstaria and spent time below the waters learning the ways of P'rossa, after being away from her homeland for so long she received a letter from the King requesting her to return to Tamrodiil which she did at once. Upon her return she was given new orders and a new position, she was first sent to the Imperial City where she met with his majesty Emperor Polius IV, she spent a month in the city before returning to Tamrodiil and taking up her new post as Mistress of the Lost Guard. Up to this day she has lead the Lost Guard and followed King Ellessar's orders.
On the Lost Guard:
The Lost Guard was formed only five months before his majesty Emperor Polius IV was slain, their purpose was to ensure Tamrodiil's safety from enemies both foreign and domestic. The King ensures that they are given the best armor, weapons (look under Standard Weapons and Armor of the Lost Guard for more information), training and other necessary equipment. They are trained to blend in with their surroundings and to fight fifty men alone and win, normally it takes fifty years for them to finish the basics. The true propose of the Lost Guard is to protect Tamrodiil from whatever lies in the Dead Forest, some of the Guardsmen and women have set foot in the forest but none have yet to return.
Standard Weapons and Armor of the Lost Guard:
The standard weaponry of a Guardsman or woman is a fine Mythril longsword for the melee and fine Mythril shortswords for the ranged Guards, the archers also carry Mythril arrows and a fine Elfwood bow. A Mythril kite shield is carried by all Guards and some carry Mythril pikes or glaives. The standard armor for the Guard is Mythril plate armor, though lighter then most plate armor it is very effective and has saved the lives of many Guards, no helms are worn by the Guard due to the fact that they wear a royal purple cloak over their armor and have a hood up at all times, some Guards have been known to wear masks over their faces to hide their identities more.
On Nightfury magic:
All members of the Lost guard are taught how to harness and control Nightfury, a type magic that has many uses. This powerful magic is what chooses the members of the Lost Guard, those Elves with it in them are quickly brought to the Temple of Amrial and raised as a Lost Guard. Nightfury can be used to destroy foes or to heal allies, it's many uses come at a cost, using Nightfury will deplete your strength and some Guards have sacrificed themselves to save others. Some say that Nightfury has no limit on it's uses and none have been able to prove otherwise. More on this magic can be found in the Tome of Night which rests in the Temple of Amrial.
On the Temple of Amrial:
The place of Adriana's birth, a temple to the goddess Amrial is now home to the Lost Guard. After Polius IV's death the Guard was forced to abandon the Temple, but Adriana saw a way to return to the Temple and use it as their headquarters once again. After slaying those that would desecrate the holy ground the Guard cast spells on it and to this day unless the Nightfury magic runs through your blood it appears to be a hill. Many have stood upon the ''hill'' and not known what lay beneath them but due to the power of the spells cast upon the temple they will never know of it's existence.
Appearance: Tall, slender, long silver-blue hair, steel blue eyes and the face of a goddess (or so some have said).
Personality: Quite around others, prefers to be left alone when not attending a party and always alert.
Clothing / Armor: Mythril chestplate, greaves, gauntlets, pauldrons, boots, kite shield and a royal purple cloak for combat and elegant Elven silk gowns while in court or otherwise of duty.
Weapons and Arms: A longbow crafted from an unknown wood that is made to fire two arrows at once, Mythril arrows, three Mythril throwing knives, a Mythril longsword and Nightfury magic.
Extra Gear: Quill's, ink and parchment to write with/on, a small satchel to carry supplies and a canteen of unknown liquid, most people believe it is some sort of alcohol.
Element: Ice
