Kazuki Yoshida -- The Prisoner
Sat Aug 27, 2011 2:21 pm
Name: Kazuki Yoshida
Nationality: Japanese
Affiliation: The Shinsengumi
Gender: Male
Age: 33
Appearance: Kazuki is about 5'5 in height, and is quite thin and lean. He has a rather boyish look about him despite his age, sporting short and slicked back hair and a clean shaved face. He wears the regular Shinsengumi attire when given the chance, otherwise he just wears a plain black kimono. Kazuki tends to have a rather emotionless face, unless he is angry. He rarely smiles or acknowledges any sort of enjoyment unless he's on the field slicing someone's throat.
Personality: Kazuki is a very cynical person, often taking a lot of nihilistic viewpoints and treating everything like it doesn't really matter. He tends to be very negative, unless the situation involves swordfighting, his only joy. Kazuki prefers not to make small talk or joke around with company, as he thinks of it as a rather pointless pursuit. Inwardly he would love to join in, but the persona he built for himself goes against it. He tends to be quite rude to people he dislikes and never really shows proper respect to people, even if he means it. There are many people who do gain his respect, though he never directly tells them about it. Basically, Kazuki is a very negative man with a bleak outlook on life; and on the other hand, he also harbors a lot of feelings of regret and anger.
History: Kazuki grew up with nothing but survival. His father deserted the family at a young age and his mother died of tubercolisis months later, leaving only the childre to fend for their own. For a while they could survive, but eventually they had to go out and find jobs like adults. This caused Kazuki to mature quickly. He never really had a childhood like most children. When he wasn't working, he was busy picking the pockets of various citizens so he could pay for food. One day, however, he picked out of the wrong pocket. The stranger noticed him immedietely and proceeded to aim a sword at his throat. This man was Toshizo Hijikata, a member of the Shinsengumi. The man took pity on Kazuki and brought him in, letting him train under the sword and eventually become one of the members of the Shinsengumi, though he was young. At the end of the Meiji Revolution, however, Kazuki was captured by the enemy and put into prison. Ten long years have passed, and Kazuki is wondering if the Shinengumi still remember their old comrade.
