West Landing
Battle of the Barren Coast - Landing of Luxuria Urbs
This arc involves:
Holy Empire
vs
Solaris
This arc is a part of the larger conflict involving:
Holy Empire - Capua - Erynnen - Alba
vs
Solaris
Holy Empire Winning Condition / Solaris Losing Condition:
The forces of the Imperial Navy breech Solaris fortifications, succeed at landing on the Barren Coast and take control of Luxuria Urbs. Arc concludes with Holy Empire victory when all three conditions are met.
Holy Empire Winning Consequence / Solaris Losing Consequence:
Holy Empire acquires a foothold in Solaris, gains Luxuria Urbs and all lands west of (except for those territories under Alban or Capuan control), Solaris loses territory and Holy Empire presses its attack further. All enemy forces in Holy Empire occupied territories are destroyed.
Solaris Winning Condition / Holy Empire Losing Condition:
The forces of Solaris maintain their fortifications, succeed at repelling the Imperial Navy from the Barren Coast and secure Luxuria Urbs against Imperial forces. Arc concludes with Solaris victory when all three conditions are met.
Solaris Winning Consequence / Holy Empire Losing Consequence:
Solaris morale increase, Holy Empire morale decrease; Additional internal strife in Holy Empire. Solaris secures it's western border. Assuming that it succeeds in repelling Erynnen blockades, gains naval superiority. Assuming it fails or does not attempt to repel them, it will have time to refortify and redistribute forces, but control of the straight remains open.
Arc Conditions:
Alba has not yet made its first move, so what effect it may have here is as of yet undetermined.
The naval forces of Solaris are entirely unavailable for this arc, because ports have been blockaded by Erynnen. A separate arc dealing with those blockades is required to bring in Solaris naval forces. Erynnen currently holds naval superiority in waters near to Solaris.
Solaris currently holds both an attack and defense advantage over Holy Empire due to its fortifications and the status of the Imperial Navy (Holy Empire's ships, with help from Erynnen, should now be top-notch, but their numbers are limited).
The moment that the Holy Empire succeeds in breaching any sort of landing on Solaris, it gains the attack advantage over it, and the moment that fortifications are breeched, Holy Empire will have both the attack and defense advantage.
Capua is focusing the entirety of its attack on the eastern front, and therefore, though its actions will effect the outcome of the conflict, will not have any effect on this particular arc and will not be present.
Both Solaris and Holy Empire will only be operating at half-strength, because Solaris has to focus on multiple fronts, and Holy Empire has its primary forces remaining home its navy can secure the west coast.
This arc is between Holy Empire and Solaris, though, Erynnen and Alba may participate once their first move has been made. Capua can not participate due to commitments on the eastern front. No other nations may participate, for there has been no pretext to it and they are not involved or simply busy with other things and justification would be doubtful.

OOC: I'm tired, getting shouted at because I'm supposed to be doing other things and have frankly been losing interest due to the time it's taken to get this off the ground, so I will be keeping it short. This never went to the tables, but I've established the above after carefully reading through and analysing everything available to me, and I believe it to be accurate.
Kommandra Kaviná, field leader of the new first fleet of the Holy Empire and captain of its flagship, surveyed the horizon line ahead - They'd been sailing for some hours and were within a few minutes reach of the shorelines of Solaris. At his disposal were two large elvish destroyers built at Bétšue Rakhát from the Erynnen-Imperial ship building agreement, one of which was his flagship, four galleons given to fleet compliments of the ever-devious Génerále Kztárbor and a few dozen small schooners, hastily built from various docks under the orders of the Dominante. They'd expected numerous encounters along the way, but had, in fact, encountered not a single foreign ship on the way to the Barren Coast - This both relieved and worried Kommandra Kaviná for various reasons. As he surveyed ahead with his spyglass, he spotted, not only the Solaris coastline, but numerous fortifications built hastily along its edge - He could tell they were built hastily due to their size, design and apparent manner, and he could tell they were well-manned, a hive of activity along the canopy of the fortifications. Stretched in all directions, he was certain that had they a footing, they could be easily taken, but alas, they had not reached that point yet, and from their ships, they'd be easy pickings for numerous canons and musketeers that undoubtedly lined the fortification walls, and so far as he could see, there'd be little to no guaranteed way to make a safe landing on the shoreline without losing their ships in the process of it should be come under fire, as they undoubtedly would.
By this stage, he had no doubts that there ships would've been seen from the shoreline and that the enemy ahead would already know of their presence. Raising his arm high up into the air, he gave a quick signal, readily recognised by every crew member of every ship in his fleet, which within seconds was put into action. They slowed their pace, approaching the Solaris coastline at a dreadfully delayed speed, until finally, stopping short, barely a field beyond range of Solaris' canons and anything other than a miraculously lucky million in a chance shot from a musketeer against the counter-force of the winds. As they reached that point, the ships began to fan out, half spreading south and half spreading north. but all remaining within range of one another.
After a minute or two, one of his subordinates looked up towards him. "What now?"
Kommandra Kaviná nodded, almost in agreeance to his own inner thoughts. "Now, we wait."
With a quick signal, he called one of his own riflemen forward and whispered a few quiet words in his ear. Saluting, the one, lone rifleman darted towards the bow of the ship, and kneeling down carefully, raised his rifle and aimed towards the shoreline.
The captain had ordered his riflemen to find an enemy target along the canopy and take his best shot. Both sides were well and truly outside of range of one another, it would be a one in a million shot for either party to strike the other from such a distance, but alas, an actual hit would only be an added bonus to what was otherwise a fairly different reason for the order. The order was for one bullet alone, and no other - Every other member of the crew of his fleet stood at the ready, simply waiting, as he'd signaled - For what, only some would know. But he had been chosen to lead the first fleet due to his experience and ability as a leader, and undoubtedly, had a plan. Soon, this plan would be put into action - For the glory for the Empire.
(( OOC: Now I just need to remember how the hell to roll in this.. ))

I'm *presuming* that 'EC Dice' is a 1-20 roll, same as Polity rules? Anyhow, rolling, firstly, for chances of successful hit on one of DB's units by my rifleman, and secondly, for chances of said shot being noticed by Solaris forces at all.
18 or higher is a hit, 20 is a kill shot. 17 or lower is a miss.
Assuming that I succeed in a hit, 5 or lower, the shot isn't noticed, but otherwise, is noticed. Assumed that I fail in a hit, 10 or higher, the shot is noticed, but otherwise, is not. The logic here - For a roll of twenty, there's a half-half chance of the shot being noticed (ergo, 10), the chances of which double if it succeeds in hitting a target. Successful kill shot relies on a 20, which is a critical success roll, and I'm thinking that for a general non-lethal shot from given distance, 18 is fair.

No response from DB and no taking over from Bleach, so I'm going to follow Red's lead and assume, that under the new rule, this means a Holy Empire victory.
(1:08:43 AM) Maikuolan: Hey
(1:09:10 AM) Redcoat: Hey!
(1:09:15 AM) Maikuolan: Actually really tired and needing sleep, but thought I'd come on quickly to see if you're on - Just read your latest post in EC.
(1:11:16 AM) Maikuolan: My plan in the battle of the west coast (which seemingly will never happen thanks to inactivity), was to literally get his troops demoralised by taking pot shots for a bit, get them worked up, act as a distraction for a secondary force that'd literally do as the mongols did in China against the wall - Find a way around. Travel the coast until finding a remote point that isn't fortified, land, come in behind, take them out from both sides. From there, storm Luxuria Urbs and any surrounding land and pretty much rush-raze everything that I find on the plains, west north, north-west coast, luxuria urbs and proximite area.
(1:12:00 AM) Maikuolan: Wondering if it'd be cool if I did what you did to coincide our victories and just macro-post a victory over the areas I was planning to attack in that strike.
(1:12:07 AM) Redcoat: Go ahead.
(1:12:14 AM) Maikuolan: (( Though not tonight, as I need sleep, lol. But thought I'd post the plan. ))
(1:12:16 AM) Maikuolan: Cool.
(1:12:16 AM) Redcoat: As long as it's just the city of LU
(1:12:20 AM) Maikuolan: *nods*
(1:12:52 AM) Maikuolan: Well, he never posted having any other cities, so I'm assuming there isn't really much else around *too* raze, thus the taking of such a vast area - Essentially, nothing is there.
(1:13:06 AM) Maikuolan: But cool.
(1:13:09 AM) Redcoat: wait
(1:13:10 AM) Redcoat: one thing
(1:13:18 AM) Redcoat: isn't LU way up north
(1:13:18 AM) Redcoat: ?
(1:13:35 AM) Maikuolan: Yeah. My plan was to circle around and attack the coast from two points.
(1:13:47 AM) Maikuolan: From Luxuria Urbs and the forts on the west coast.
(1:13:50 AM) Redcoat: Ahhhh ok.
(1:13:57 AM) Redcoat: Well, assume there are cities in the west too
(1:13:59 AM) Redcoat: just not major ones
(1:14:40 AM) Maikuolan: *nods*
(1:14:41 AM) Maikuolan: Sounds good.,
(1:14:57 AM) Redcoat: kk
(1:17:08 AM) Maikuolan: Also, because I'm lazy and tired and not sure if I'd be able to post full explanations now for my victory, would you have any objections if I copypasta'd the relevant parts of this convo as verification that I've spoken to someone about this?
(1:17:19 AM) Redcoat: Go ahead.
(1:17:27 AM) Maikuolan: Excellent. Thanks. Doing now.
