News That Made My Day Thread

Post by Canterbury on Thu Jun 03, 2010 10:54 pm

Just post something intriguing or odd and discuses it here.

Scientists begin 520-day Mars mission simulation

I just can't comprehend how someone will submit themselves to a tube for over a freaking year. For the betterment of mother Russia? They either have to get paid big time or somehow know that they wont break down mentally in any of those 520 days.

Katy Perry wants to wear a "Bacon Bikini"

"For my next album I'd like it to be about meat and I want to be on the cover wearing a bacon bikini. Also I want my records to smell of sausage or pork. CDs are over, but not if they smell original."

Oh that Katy Perry!

Lindsay Lohan released from jail after 14 days

She served 14 days of a 90-day sentence, getting out early because of jail overcrowding.

First, people are exempt from jail because there's too much people? Secondly, I'm inclined to think that "overcrowding" is code for "I have money."

Justin Bieber Is Writing His Memoirs at Age 16

Not worth quoting anything from the article.

At the very least, does this mean that Bieber will die of old age at 17?

Massive ice island breaks off Greenland

A piece of ice four times the size of Manhattan island has broken away from an ice shelf in Greenland, according to scientists in the U.S.

The ice island, which is about half the height of the Empire State Building, is the biggest piece of ice to break away from the Arctic icecap since 1962

Man Punishes Cat By Planning To Eat It

Officers were stunned when they opened his car boot – and saw a black and white cat covered in a mixture of crushed red peppers, chili pepper, salt and oil. β€œThe cat appeared to be marinating in it,” a police spokesman said. Korkuc then reportedly told officers he was punishing his cat, Navarro, for being ill tempered – and told them he planned to cook the cat.

Well, you gotta give him points for creativity. No one else has ever punished their pet by planning to eat them before. Could be effective(or traumatic).

Then again, there may be a reason for that. They probably taste terrible Razz

Rofl, that is awesome. Razz

(I also happened to check out their website, and alas, I found a major bug or two within the first minute of looking at it, so promptly took a screenshot and emailed it to them from an aliased email address.)

Man Suing Video Game Company For Becoming Too Addicted To The Game

A man in Hawaii is suing because he says he's suffering from video game withdrawal.

Well, at least it's better than marrying a video game character, or something else.

That's awesome, yet bad at the same time.

I can sympathize.

Also, I was fixing to post something in this thread and what do you know, a new post appears.

How do you not notice this?

^Wtf?!

Golf swing starts fire in California

When a golfer trying to hit a ball out of the rough struck a rock with his club, it started a fire which burned across 12 acres in California.

Only California can be that flammable.

This is ridiculous

Talk about being harsh and cruel. From what I know about flogging, most people don't survive flogging. I'd say that was more than enough punishment for adultery. If her husband died, then why would it matter who she saw after he was dead? Its blown way out of proportion.
(Side note)
Also, I didn't realize while reading the article but I apologize for the stupid perverted and explicit ads on the side of the page. However, some of you may like the ads....>_>...>_< I for one do not. This is one thing I like about FireFox. I can block(stupid explicit and wasteful) ads on sites that I frequent.
