Some Unfortunate News Empty Some Unfortunate News

I regret to inform all members of TWT and the old Conquest Mania, that IPBFree is officially shut down for good. This came as a complete surprise to me, and I am sure to all other members there.

What is worse, is that any and all material that cannot be redeemed. As a fellow mod there, I am quite irked about all of this.

Announced on Twitter, here is the head's last message:

"If you need to RT: iPBFree is gone forever and it's not possible to retrieve anything. We're exceptionally sorry, it wasn't planned."

If anyone can contact the members of TWT for me, tell them personally that LS is open for them to move over here.

My condolences to a great community and site,

~Bleach and the LS Staff

To my knowledge the IPBFree fiasco has something to do with a legal issue on their part. The Twitter of the head admin paints a pretty nasty picture. I for one am convinced that IPBFree data is totally and irrevocably lost.

PROTIP:

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:yoururl

Use this perhaps to retrieve some things...? Replace "yoururl" with, well, your URL.

Courtesy RPG-D Forums for this idea.

EDIT: Never mind. Bleach and I tried this and the way TWT was set up wasn't archived properly. Anyone else care to ensure we're not just fools?

EDIT AGAIN: We're not fools. Only publicly viewable and not read-only forums can be accessed.

That's tragic. I just contacted Dom Bom, gave him a link. He's gonna help spread the word.

I came instantly when I heard the news. I travelled night and day across lands unknown to most and slayed creatures of the dark.

RIP TWT. It will be remember forever.

All members!

If you have any information on TWT, please use Google Caching as quickly as possible to retrieve your posts and what have thee. You cannot access staff areas or the archives, but most everything else is open game.

Good luck.

I think the only semi-regulars on there were Dom, Stephen, Canterbury, TEG, TEG's friends whose names escape me, DJ, Bleach, Cheeky on occasion and myself.

You'd think if this was a legal issue they'd send an announcement first. Just seems a bit out of the blue to me.

Let's face it, the site was dead anyway. In a way, I suppose this was for the best.

Oh damn, this is certainly big news.. o.0

I never ended up actually joining TWT, but I still occasionally read stuff posted there, and the closure of IPBFree this suddenly.. is definitely strange. Not to mention that there's a number of other forums I'm a member of that this undoubtedly would've effected.

This thread is the first I've heard of this, but I think I'll definitely be scouring my old forum memberships later tonight and etcetera to get a better grasp of what exactly has happened.

TWT, like all of us here from Legacy Society, you have my condolences for your loss. It's never an easy thing when your host suddenly drops out on you like that. If assistance of any kind is needed for recovery, I'd be happy to help where I can. Smile

(Ironically, I used to help manage another community alongside a few other members of said community, including one under the moniker of YankeesFan. I can't help but wonder what would if YankeesFan and Yankees Hater ever met. But, that's just my mind wondering randomly.)
